Deck GlandThe type SS1 cable gland allows coaxial cable and connector to pass through the deck without leaks. It is made from aluminium with a rubber insert through which the cable passes. It is engineered to allow the cable connector, PL259, to pass through whilst attached to the cable. A choice of rubber inserts is supplied for different cable diameters from 4.5mm to 9mm. (RG8X cable is 6.4mm diameter). Comes with fixing screws and full instructions. Windex Wind IndicatorDavis recently introduced this complete kit that allows you to install a Windex 15" vane to your Metz whip antenna. Sailors have been doing this installation themselves for many years by taking apart a standard Windex 15" vane and installing the parts onto these kinds of antennas. The Windex AV is a much more economical way of doing this. Comes with Teflon® bearing washers, adjustable stainless tacking arms and reflectors underneath the tabs and wind vane. Reduce masthead clutter by combining two installations into one!
Rail Mount BracketUsed for mounting a Metz antenna to a standard 1” rail. This mount is ideal for motorboats or for deck level mounting on yachts. AIS Antenna system and standby radio antennaA VHF antenna is required for AIS reception and it can also act as a standby for the main VHF radio antenna in the event of failure or a dismasting: Use a rail mount bracket to attach a Metz Manta-6 antenna to the pulpit. Run a length of RG8X coaxial cable to the radio and the AIS engine, ensuring the cable is long enough to reach both devices. The connection at the radio is a PL259 plug and this should be fitted to the end of the coax cable. The connector at the AIS engine is a BNC connector. Use a BNC/SO239 adaptor to attach the PL259 plug to the AIS engine. In the event of the loss of the main VHF antenna the AIS antenna can be detached from the AIS engine and reconnected at the radio, putting you back in VHF communication quickly and easily. Although VHF reception is line-of-sight and, therefore, a high antenna location is favoured, AIS transmissions come from high up on a ship’s superstructure, providing the altitude to give 12 miles or more range. This is quite adequate for AIS reception, giving over half an hour between identification of a vessel and it appearing at your location. Likewise, Coast Guard stations have powerful antennas mounted high up so that your deck mounted Metz antenna will provide good communication range in an emergency situation such as a dismasting. Bandit™ clear silicone self fusing compression tape.Bandit™ is a non-adhesive clear silicone tape that when applied under tension self fuses to form a strong, clean, waterproof, airproof, insulating wrap. We recommend that your exterior cable connections be wrapped in Bandit™ tape. Cables and connectors prices include Postage and Packing |
